Dr. Terry Drennen

CLASS OF 1971

When Western Hills first opened its doors in 1968, Terry was a part of the very first sophomore class. Over the next three years, he was a four-sport letterman in football, basketball, baseball and track.

Drennan quarterbacked the Cougars to a bi-district championship in 1969 and a district championship in 1970. In his junior and senior seasons, he was selected to the All-Tarrant County team. Terry was also selected as the recipient of the Optimist Club SSA Award as the outstanding high school senior scholar athlete for Tarrant County in 1970-1971.

Following graduation, Terry played football at TCU. Playing both defensive back and quarterback, he was selected to the 1971 Freshman All-SWC team and was awarded the National Football Foundation Scholarship Award as an outstanding freshman student collegiate athlete in North Texas.

Drennan went on to excel on the football field and in the classroom for the Horned Frogs. He received the Dan Rogers Award as TCU’s most valuable player in 1974 and was named first team Academic All-SWC and first team Academic All-America as a defensive back in 1974. He was the 1974 nominee from TCU for the Kern Tips Award recognizing the top senior football student athlete in the SWC.

At the end of his senior season, Terry was one of only 33 athletes to receive an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship for leadership, academic and athletic achievement. He used the scholarship to help him attend dental school.

Terry has enjoyed his dentistry practice since 1979 and values the educational opportunities every day provided for him by his efforts as a student athlete.
