Dane Jentsch

Dane Jentsch’s arrival at Grandview heralded a new era of success. As a sophomore quarterback, he led the Zebras to their first-ever UIL Class 3A Division I state title in 2018, delivering a clutch performance with over 260 total yards, multiple touchdowns, and a mountain of tackles. His coach praised his relentless competitive spirit: “He’s a competitor… he’s going to do whatever he can to get it back.”Texas Football+1Texas Legislature Online

Unfazed by the high bar he’d set, Jentsch doubled down in 2019 with another state championship—leading Grandview both as quarterback and safety. He passed for 218 yards, rushed for 152, and devastated Pottsboro’s comeback attempt with a pivotal goal-line stand and interception. Coach Ebner lauded his unmatched composure: “He always finds a way to make plays when they need to.”Texas HS FootballTexas Football

By the end of his career, Jentsch had become the winningest quarterback in school history (41–5 overall, 15–1 in playoffs) and swept top honors as TSWA Class 3A Offensive Player of the Year. He threw for over 3,300 yards and 34 TDs, rushed for more than 1,000 yards and 15 TDs, and is the only player in Texas HS football history to be named Offensive and Defensive MVP in state championship games twice—a testament to his rare “it factor” and enduring legacy.
