Dale Walker

Coach Dale Walker had a love of football all his life. From his early beginning as a Lampasas Badger, to playing for TCU, coaching most of his career, to watching his grandson pick up the football legend mantel.
Dale graduated from Texas Christian University where he played football, serving as captain. During his time at TCU he was a three-year letter winner and played in the 1957 and 1959 Cotton Bowls. He was honored in 1958 with All-Southwest-Conference recognition and the Rogers Trophy as the TCU most valuable Player. Additionally, he was an Academic All-American that year.
Dale was a coach and visiting teacher for FWISD for many years; receiving the Coach of the Year award in 1969, while coaching at Western Hills High School. WHHS always held a special place in his heart.
Before WHHS even opened the team was practicing there in the spring of 1968. Just before summer, Coach Walker called the team together asking what colors they wanted to be. He was a big Packers fan so he talked them into green and gold.

Dale served on the TCU Letterman’s board and was inducted into the TCU Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Lampasas Hall of Fame in 2016.
