Hurley J. Tarver Jr., a standout student-athlete from Western Hills High School in Fort Worth, Texas, excelled in football, basketball, and track and field. Recognized for his exceptional football skills, Hurley was named 1st Team All-District Free-Safety and All-American Free-Safety. During his senior year, he clinched the titles of Triple Jump and High Jump District Champion.

Hurley earned a football scholarship to the University of Central Oklahoma, where he played as a Cornerback for four years. He made an immediate impact, tying for the lead in interceptions in the Lone Star Conference with six. In the 1996 and 1997 seasons, Hurley was a leader in team tackles recording 62 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 12 pass breakups in 1996 and 57 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD, and 9 pass breakups in 1997 earning him 1st Team All-Lone Star Conference, All-American Honorable Mention, and 2nd Team All-Region honors.

Hurley’s professional football journey began as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers. He spent time on rosters with the Cleveland Browns (99), Dallas Cowboys (00), and Green Bay Packers (01-03). Hurley also played in NFL Europe with the Scottish Claymores (00; 02), the XFL’s Las Vegas Outlaws (00), and the AFL’s Tampa Bay Storm (AFL Champions 03), Chicago Rush (04), and Las Vegas Gladiators (05). In the CFL, he was part of the Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts (04).

Transitioning to coaching, Hurley worked with high school and collegiate football programs. As a Wide Receivers Coach at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, he guided two WRs to earn 1st Team All Mid-South Sun Division Team honors in his first year. Hurley also mentored at-risk student-athletes and contributed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys Developmental Football Programs.
