Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford, born on February 7, 1988, in Tampa, Florida, is an NFL quarterback known for his powerful arm and resilience throughout his career. Stafford attended Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas, where he was a star quarterback and quickly became one of the top prospects in the country. At Highland Park, Stafford led his team to a state championship and was named the District MVP. His strong performances on the high school stage earned him national recognition and set the stage for his future success at the University of Georgia. At Georgia, Stafford continued to excel, showcasing his ability to make big plays under pressure and leading the Bulldogs to multiple successful seasons. He finished his college career with impressive statistics and was selected first overall in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.

Stafford spent 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions (2009–2020), where he became the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions. Known for his strong arm and ability to throw the ball deep, Stafford also faced many challenges with a Lions team that often struggled to reach the playoffs. Despite this, Stafford earned a reputation as a tough and durable quarterback, consistently putting up impressive statistics. In 2011, he set a career high in passing yards with 5,038, marking the first time a Lions quarterback had surpassed 5,000 yards in a season.
