2019 Grandview Zebras Football

Grandview completed their back-to-back state championships by defeating the Pottsboro Cardinals 42-35 at AT&T Stadium. The Zebras finished 15-1 to capture their 2nd consecutive Class 3A Division I title. 1st year Head Football Coach Ryan Ebner took over the helm after the retirement of Head Coach Brad Davis. Ebner’s Zebras returned 8 starters on offense and defense, including Offensive and Defensive MVP of the State Championship, Dane Jentsch.
Over 90% of these Zebras grew up playing football together in The Grandview Youth Association Football Programs, a true home-grown team. The Zebras went 4-0 in nondistrict and 5-1 in district play, the lone defeat coming against district rivals, Whitney. The playoffs opened against the Rockdale Tigers, the zebras dominated this 1st round matchup 42-7. The second-round game was a rematch of the previous season’s overtime Regional Final game, with the zebras eliminating East Chambers for the second straight season, 43-29. Next up, Cameron Yoe, this 45-14 victory in the third round exercised some demons from a 3rd round loss in 2015. The Troy Trojans were Grandview’s Regional Finals opponent, the Zebras defense overwhelmed Troy’s running game and defeated Troy 34-13. In the State Semi-Final game the Zebras faced the Columbus Cardinals, the Zebras offense finished off the Cardinals early, 41-21. The State FInal game against the undefeated Cardinals of Pottsboro was a physical matchup in which the Zebras threw the more dominating punches to complete their quest for Back to Back State Titles.
